"I've become so slow at working that I despair, but the more I go along the more I see that I need to work a great deal to capture what I'm trying to get across 'Instantaneity' especially the envelope, the same light spreading everywhere." The series presents a world without one fixed appearance, infinitely changeable with the light and atmosphere. Yet the primeval architecture of the wheat stack, thatched to resist the wind, rain, and snow, endures throughout.
